Our Annual Events
Are you interested in the arts? Peterson celebrates the arts from June to December. Each event is family friendly and allows you to interact with the artists and their creativity.
Gammel Dag - A Scandinavian Midsummer Celebration
Wanna Gammeldag? The Saturday after Father’s Day is Peterson’s chance to share the traditions of the city founders! Norwegian families of the mid-1800's maintained their love of the culture from the "old country." Those traditions - lovely foods and folk art - are again popular all over this region, so let us share what we have researched and will present for you to enjoy during the longest days of the year - midsummer!
Summer Music Series - The Arts Blossom in Peterson
Join us for four Sundays of Music starting July 7th, 2024. Enjoy a variety of delightful musical groups. Our historic bandstand is a perfect place to kick up your feet and enjoy the end of busy summer weekends. Bring your lawn chairs and perhaps purchase popcorn or a picnic style supper served by volunteers.
Mission Statement for the Peterson Committee for the Arts:
The mission of the Peterson Committee for the Arts is to present to the public a variety of artists, especially musicians, to enrich the lives of local residents and visitors. Free art events encourage a sense of community while expanding the cultural backgrounds, experiences, and awareness of our citizens; including youth, elderly, and people with limited mobility.
Christmas in Peterson
On the second Saturday in December, the little town of Peterson celebrates Christmas fever in a big way by embracing its cultural traditions and welcoming guests in a merry atmosphere. Save some of your shopping for the artists/vendors selling gifts for all ages, listen for our carolers, watch for surprise Santa visits, hop on a hayride, and plan to indulge in hot beverage and delicious food. Community Education takes over City Hall and offers activities for children part of this special day.
